In the fifties TV was new and we were under 10. I recall is being allowed to watch the 1pm afternoon movie, Carousel, if was sick and home from school.
Our local TV stations were few but we got to know them well.
In the 1950s
1954- Calgary got its first TV station, CHCT-TV, Channel 2. The images were in black and white. It later was called CICT-TV and was Channel 7.
1958- CFCN TV – the first independent TV station in Canada. It had syndicated cartoons like The Lone Ranger and Superman

We were entering our teen years. Yes there were little kid programs but we were usually feeling too In the 1960s, mature for them

In the 1960s we had local shows of:

- – the Buckshot Show with Ron Berge. This program was very popular with little kids, but by this time we were not little kids. We were 18, so the memories we have of it are not very strong.
We did however at my house really enjoy these shows in the evening. Afternoon soap operas were watched by some adults.
